Responsibilities
The company seeks to hire a (i) Design Associate or (ii) Intern for what will be a field-based position. Responsibilities to include, but not be limited to:
(a) Supervising golf course construction projects, including on-site management of feature shaping, layout and tracking of course features with survey equipment, note-taking, drone flyovers and all other tasks that may be reasonably expected from the Associate Designer and President.
(b) Production of presentation materials, including graphic renderings, presentation slides, and booklets.
(c) Assist with production and assembly of construction documents.
(d) Shaping and construction of golf courses, including but not limited to operation of a wheel tractor, power bunker rake, skid steer, bulldozer, etc.
(e) All other duties as assigned by the President and Associate Designer, including tasks related to golf course design and construction supervision.
Expectations
Golf course design and construction are not industries for the faint of heart. This position will fill an on-site Design Associate role working directly with clients, contractors, and the BWGD design team. A typical work week will consist of 50 – 65 hours and varies depending on the stage of each individual project. Early mornings and late nights are sometimes required to meet project deadlines and requirements. Relocation to the job site and frequent travel is expected. Travel and accommodation for specific jobs will be provided by the company.
Qualifications
Golf: The ideal candidate should have familiarity with the game of golf, and a desire to learn various aspects of golf course design and construction. A leadership mentality with the skills to assist in advancing the management of select projects based on an individual’s skill set is welcomed.
Education: A degree or current enrollment in civil engineering and/or landscape architecture with experience in either golf course construction and/or maintenance will be reviewed favorably.
Technical: Desirable talents include experience and familiarity with AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and knowledge of typical architectural and engineering graphics.
Communications: Great written and verbal communication skills.
Construction: Knowledge of construction techniques and the ability to operate equipment is also preferred (wheel tractors, bulldozers, mini excavators, skid steers, etc.).
